Our Ensembles

Cardinia Civic Concert Band’s Ensemble Program is enriching the cultural life of the Shire of Cardinia through accessible, high-quality music-making opportunities for singers and instrumentalists of all ages.

 

Our growing suite of ensembles includes youth and adult choirs, concert bands and a symphony orchestra, providing clear musical pathways from developing musicians to advanced ensemble performance. Rehearsing throughout the week during school terms at Memorial Hall, Nar Nar Goon, our ensembles are led by experienced conductors and supported by dedicated educators who foster both technical development and artistic expression.

Through engaging repertoire and meaningful performance opportunities, members build musicianship, confidence and lifelong connections within a vibrant and supportive community.

Intermediate Band

Approx Standard: Developing players (AMEB Grade 1 – 4 or equivalent)
Rehearsals: Tuesdays 6:30 pm – 7:15 pm
Location: Memorial Hall, Nar Nar Goon

Join our Intermediate Band and strengthen your ensemble skills in a supportive and developmental environment. The Intermediate Band provides a structured pathway for developing musicians seeking to build confidence, improve technique and gain valuable performance experience.

Our Intermediate Band provides the opportunity for musicians of all ages and skill levels to develop their ensemble playing and musicianship in a supportive and encouraging environment. Designed as a stepping stone to our Senior Band, the Intermediate Band helps members build confidence, refine their technique, and enhance their ability to perform as part of a group.

​

The band plays a diverse repertoire suited to developing musicians, covering a range of styles from classical and concert band music to contemporary pieces. In addition to regular rehearsals, the Intermediate Band performs at various community events, local shows, and functions, often sharing the stage with our senior band. These performances offer valuable experience and a chance to be part of the vibrant musical community within the Cardinia Shire.

Whether you’re a young musician looking to gain experience or an adult returning to music after a break, the Intermediate Band is a great place to grow, connect, and enjoy making music together.

Join our Senior Band, which unites dedicated brass, woodwind and percussion players to explore substantial concert band works while developing precision, musical maturity and artistic expression.

Our Senior Band is the premier concert band of Cardinia Shire, proudly representing the community through high-quality musical performances at a wide range of events. Throughout the year, the band performs at major local celebrations, including the Pakenham Show, Australia Day, citizenship ceremonies, ANZAC Day services, and Carols by Candlelight events across the shire.

With a rich history spanning over 130 years, the Senior Band continues to uphold a tradition of excellence, bringing people together through the power of music. We provide a supportive and enriching environment where members can challenge themselves musically while building lasting friendships. 

Senior Band

Approx Standard: AMEB Grade 4+ (or equivalent)
Rehearsals: Tuesdays 7:30 pm – 9 pm
Location: Memorial Hall, Nar Nar Goon

 

Join the Senior Band to:
 

  • Refine the ensemble technique and balance

  • Explore diverse and engaging wind repertoire

  • Strengthen musical interpretation and stylistic awareness

  • Perform regularly within the Cardinia community

Symphony Orchestra

Approx standard: AMEB Grade 6+ (or equivalent ensemble experience)

Rehearsals: Wednesdays 7:00 pm (two concert seasons per year)

​The Cardinia Civic Symphony Orchestra brings together committed instrumentalists from across the Shire to perform compelling symphonic works under experienced musical leadership.

 

Designed for intermediate to advanced players, the orchestra provides a focused and inspiring environment where musicians refine technique, deepen ensemble skills and contribute to high-quality performances within their local community.

Instruments: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Flute, Clarinet, Oboe, Bassoon, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba, Percussion (expression of interest welcome)

Voices of Cardinia Childrens Choir brings together young singers to explore vibrant repertoire, develop healthy vocal technique and build confident musicianship in an encouraging and inspiring environment.

​

​Through rehearsals and performances, young choristers learn the joy of singing together while building listening skills, teamwork and musical understanding. The Childrens Choir explores a diverse range of music, from contemporary songs to traditional choral works, helping young singers grow as expressive and versatile musicians.

The Childrens Choir provides a welcoming space where children can develop their confidence, creativity and love of music while forming lasting friendships within a supportive community.

Childrens Choir

Approx Age Range: 10 – 17 years

Rehearsals: Mondays 4:00 pm

Open to singers aged 18 and over, the Voices of Cardinia Community Choir offers a relaxed and motivated space to grow musically while enjoying meaningful social connections.

​Community Choir rehearsals focus on developing healthy vocal technique, ensemble skills and confident musicianship while exploring a wide variety of choral repertoire. Whether singers are returning to music or joining a choir for the first time, members are welcomed into a supportive and encouraging musical community.
